Karen has been a Realtor since 1972, starting her career in Woodland Hills, California with Forest E. Olson Realtors, her first sale was a G.I. Loan/Purchase for $21,500. In 1974 she moved to Palm Springs and began taking classes at College of the Desert to become a California Real Estate Broker. As a Broker in Palm Springs, she first opened a small boutique office called the “Real Estate Pro-Shop” as an avid tennis player she represented properties with tennis courts and also was fortunate to be the Broker for an off-shore corporation which led to travels around the world and dealing with many foreign buyers and sellers.
In 1980, now married and with two small children she opened “Tabbah&Associates, Inc”, in Beverly Hills, California, catering mostly to the Middle-Eastern investors coming to California and was the Realtor at that time to many consulates from that region.
In 1986 she moved back to Palm Springs, divorced and with two small children, the lifestyle was more comfortable and much less expensive. She managed West World Properties with 25-30 agents for several years and devoted much of her time to “Organized Real Estate” working on committees for the Board of Realtors, eventually becoming the President in 1994.
She has been very involved with the City of Palm Springs, an advocate for the Realtors in the changing of rent control and the numerous changes in sign ordinances.
In 2002, a client/fellow broker from Beverly Hills asked her to open a real estate company for him and they agreed to open DBL in Palm Springs. DBL was a successful family owned business for several years with many offices on the West side of L.A. and during the boom years DBL was purchased by NRT and became the “Sothebys International” company owned.
Karen says “the only thing you can depend on with real estate is change”. Having owned and managed many real estate offices throughout her career (a job she calls “herding cats”)she is most qualified to tackle any situation. Her motto; “Know me before you need me” relates to her listening style. Her integrity, knowledge of the local market and caring will make her your Realtor for Life.
